About The Morkie / Maltese-Yorkie:

A Morkie is a mix between a Yorkshire Terrier and a Maltese. This along with its cousin the Yorkie-Poo is a very popular and well known mix sought by many customers because of their great personality. A Morki is a no shed pup that is a good consideration if you have allergies. They will be good, due to the Maltese, for most of you with allergies. They are lovely, spirited and very outgoing even given their size. They are devoted to their families and bond well. They do well with older children and other small pets. Due to their smaller size young children need to be taught how to properly handle a dog of this size. (Parents please use some caution here) They need to keep in mind that this is not a rough and tumble play toy. Their goal and main purpose in life is to be your companion, this they serve well. They are playful and full of fun but their exercise needs will easily be met in the house running around. Being part Terrier, they will enjoy going outside as well and playing, helping, you with yard work. A short walk, which they will also enjoy, will be enough to wear them out; you may end up carrying them. They do have a curious mind, so keep plenty of intra-active toys around for them to keep occupied. The Yorkie can lend a slight stubborn streak to the mix, so make training consistent with a little patience. Piddle Pads would be a good choice for them as an alternative to outside. Use a lot of praise and a few treats to get your point across. They should have a long and straight or a slightly wavy coat. The Maltese's hair is very fine and can mat easily. You will need to comb them out two or three times a week with a slicker brush or a hard comb. If you find a small mat you can cut it out with a pair of scissors, they won't miss it. They will also need to go to the groomers about every 8 to 12 weeks. This is a delightful pup that is often seen walking the malls in a purse or stroller. Great for the empty nesters out there!!!
