About The YoTon / Yorkie-Coton:

The Yo-Ton is a cross between a Yorkshire Terrier and a Coton de Tulear. This low-shedding, allergy-friendly companion is an up-and-coming designer breed that shares many of the wonderful traits of its cousin, the Yorkie-Poo. Yo-Tons are loving, happy, brave, intelligent, alert, cheerful, and clever. They enjoy being involved in family activities and make wonderful companions, making them an excellent choice for individuals, couples, and families with older children or other pets. Yo-Tons are affectionate dogs that bond closely with their family and enjoy being included in everyday life. While they love all members of the household, they often choose one special person as their favorite. They are generally well-mannered and try to stay out of trouble, although they can have a stubborn side. They get along well with other pets and children, but because they are a toy breed, young children should be taught how to properly handle a small dog. They are best suited for homes with older children, and early socialization is recommended. Most of their exercise needs can be met through indoor play and a little time in the yard. Long walks are not necessary, making them well suited for apartment or small-house living. They are intelligent dogs, and training is generally considered easier than with a pure Yorkshire Terrier. They can have a stubborn streak, so consistency and clear expectations are important. Because of their eager-to-please personality, they respond much better to praise, treats, and positive reinforcement than harsh corrections. Early puppy classes are a great way to build confidence and establish good manners. Their straight, silky coat requires regular grooming to keep it healthy and free of tangles. Brushing several times a week with a sturdy comb or pin brush will help prevent mats and keep the coat looking its best. Professional grooming every 8 to 12 weeks is recommended to maintain their appearance. Routine ear cleaning, nail trimming, and dental care are also important parts of their regular grooming routine. The Yo-Ton is a well-rounded little companion that adapts well to many different lifestyles. Their loving personality, cheerful spirit, intelligence, and devotion to their family make them a wonderful addition to almost any home, bringing years of happiness, companionship, and unconditional love.
