About The Pomsky:

The Siberian Husky originated as a sled dog for the Chukchi people of eastern Siberia and was later imported to Alaska during the early 1900s gold rush. Known for their incredible endurance and ability to run, Huskies are adventurous, clever, loyal, and loving dogs with a strong-willed, independent personality. As members of the Spitz family, they share many traits with breeds such as the Pomeranian. Their active nature makes them an excellent choice for experienced owners and active families who can provide plenty of exercise, training, and companionship. Siberian Huskies are friendly, social dogs that tend to enjoy meeting new people, making them poor watchdogs despite their alert appearance. They form strong bonds with their family and do well with children, although their size and strength make supervision during play important. They can also do well with other pets when socialized from an early age. Because running is deeply rooted in their instincts, a securely fenced yard is highly recommended, as they are likely to take off if given the opportunity. They require a generous amount of daily exercise and mental stimulation, including outdoor play, interactive toys, walks, and other activities. During the summer, they should always have access to fresh water and shade, while winter is often their favorite season, as they thrive in colder weather and love spending time outdoors. Without enough exercise and stimulation, they may become destructive. They are highly intelligent but also independent and stubborn, making consistent training essential from an early age. Because they like to think for themselves, clear expectations, patience, and positive reinforcement with praise and treats will produce the best results. Early puppy classes are highly recommended to help establish good manners and teach owners how to effectively manage such a strong-willed breed. A well-trained Husky is much more enjoyable than one that has not received proper guidance. Their thick double coat sheds heavily and requires regular grooming to keep it healthy and to help control loose hair. Brushing several times a week with a slicker brush or undercoat rake will help remove loose fur, while a de-shedding tool is especially helpful during the spring when they “blow” their coat. Routine nail trimming, ear cleaning, and dental care are also important parts of their regular grooming routine. The Siberian Husky is a well-rounded companion for active families who are prepared to meet their exercise and training needs. Their adventurous spirit, intelligence, loyalty, and playful personality make them a wonderful addition to the right home, bringing years of companionship, excitement, and unconditional love.
