About The Havaton / Havanese-Coton:

The Havaton is a sweet, affectionate little companion that is a cross between a Havanese and a Coton de Tulear. They are known for their playful personality, friendly nature, and delightful sense of humor. Their loving and accommodating temperament makes them an excellent choice for first-time dog owners, families with children, and homes with other pets. They enjoy being around people and are happiest when spending time with their family.

Havatons are social dogs that love meeting new people and generally make friends wherever they go. They are not known for being guard dogs but instead will happily greet visitors with excitement and affection. They do well with children and other household pets, although young children should be taught how to properly handle a smaller dog. While they are sturdy enough to enjoy playtime with the family, they will not take kindly to rough handling. Most of their exercise needs can be met with indoor play and running around the backyard, although they will also enjoy going on short walks with their family. They are intelligent and eager to please, making training enjoyable when using positive reinforcement. Because of their gentle and sensitive nature, they respond much better to praise, treats, and consistency than harsh words or corrections. The Havanese side of the mix can contribute to a tendency to bark, so it is important not to encourage excessive barking or excitement. Ignoring unwanted barking and rewarding calm behavior can help establish good manners. Early socialization and consistent training will help them grow into confident and well-behaved companions. Their soft coat will require regular care to keep it healthy and free of tangles. Brushing several times a week with a pin brush or sturdy comb will help prevent mats and keep their coat looking its best. Professional grooming about every 8 weeks will help maintain their appearance and keep them comfortable. Routine nail trimming, ear care, and dental care are also important parts of their grooming routine. Havatons are considered low-shedding and may be a good option for people with allergies, although no dog is completely allergy-free. The Havaton is a well-rounded little dog that adapts well to a variety of home environments. Their affectionate personality, playful spirit, and friendly nature make them a wonderful companion for families and individuals alike. With their love of people and desire to be part of the family, they are sure to bring years of happiness, laughter, and unconditional love into your home.
