About The Poodle, Mini:

The Poodle is officially recognized coming from France although its earlier ancestors came from central Asia. In the 18th and 19th century the Poodle served a wide variety of purposes, including duck hunting, guiding, and later circus performing. The Poodle became a popular pet for the French aristocracy. The Poodle is available in three different sizes, Toy, Mini and Standard and comes in a wide variety of colors but most common is white or black. You will find Poodles to be sensitive, highly intelligent, lively, playful, proud and elegant. They bond closely with their family and make an excellent companion. They are obedient, and graceful. They are bouncy, alert, and usually eager to play. They get along well with other pets and children of all ages. Be sure to socialize them to the environment that you wish. They may announce the arrival of visitors, but are generally friendly toward them. They are highly adaptable and make good watchdogs. Due to their high intelligence they may become bored, keep plenty of toys for them and things to do. Another companion dog is also a good alternative. Most of their activity needs should be met in the house as they are not considered overly active. They are big enough to go for walks and will enjoy them; they will also like to run around the back yard. Training is fairly simple with these guys. They want to please and are eager to learn. Make sure they know what it is that you want and expect from them and they will do it. Bell training works well with them ring the bell with their nose to go out a couple of times and give them a treat and they will catch on. Of course, all Poodles are no shed and hypo-allergenic. They will need combed out on a regular basis with a hard comb and will need to go to the groomers every 8 weeks. Their hair does grow rather quickly. In my opinion, Poodles are one of the most mis-understood breeds out there. Everyone remembers Grandmas little FiFi that barked and snapped at all the grandkids, this is not who they are but how they were raised. Socialize them correctly and you will find a very enjoyable dog.
