About The Huskimo / Husky-Eskimo:

A Huskimo is a mix of a Siberian Husky and the American Eskimo. The Siberian Husky originated as a sled dog for the Chukchi tribe of the Eastern Siberia. The American Eskimo, aka Eskie, Germany. Both are in the Spitz family of dogs along with the Pomeranian and the Samoyed plus many others. A Husky comes in different colors like black or red while the Eskimo only comes in all white. A Huskimo is primarily a mid-sized family companion and is better known for its personality. They are great with children and other pets but should be introduced slowly to the little ones, both kids and pets. They are bright, clever, active, adventurous and might be a little stubborn. They will bond tightly with their family and remain loyal to them. They may be cautious of strangers but tend to love almost anyone. They are eager to please, use this when it comes to training. They are active and playful and will run around the house but will need outside time as well, preferably in a fenced in yard, they really do love to run. They love outside especially in the winter, even on those artic blasts that we can get, this will not even phase them. They will enjoy a walk around the block. They are intelligent and will need some stimuli to keep their mind occupied. Use some inter-active type of toys or they could become destructive if they don't have something to do. They may be on the sensitive side and won't like scolding or harsh words, you can still be firm without being harsh. Keep you training consistent and be patient. Use a lot of praise and treats. The Huskimo has a long and beautiful coat. They actually have a double coat. The outer coat acts like a rain coat, it repels water and dirt. The undercoat is very soft and warm. Their coat will require combing out about every two or three days to remove dead hairs and keep them looking good. Their undercoat should be combed out very good in the spring to keep them from overheating. Some people want to shave them down in the summer to keep them cool but this is counterproductive to the breed and is highly not recommended, their skin will sunburn because their coat acts to protect them summer and winter. Wash them only when they need it. This is a fun and delightful breed that will fit most lifestyles.
