About The Daisy Dog / Shih Tzu-Bichon-Poodle:

This is a Daisy Dog. They are a blend of three different dogs, mathematically they are 50% Shih Tzu, 25% Bichon and 25% Toy Poodle although genetically that could vary. They will be very closely related to the Shih-Chon, aka Teddy Bear. A Daisy will not shed and is very good for allergy cases. They are happy and friendly with an upbeat personality. They make an excellent companion and are very social with their family. They are clever, entertaining and playful. They will consider a nap on the couch with you after they tear around the house a little longer. Their activity needs are mostly met running the house, they will also enjoy some outdoor playtime while in the yard with you or a nice walk around the block. Their sturdy body and socialness lends well with children of all ages and other household pets. Make sure that young children know how to handle a small and young dog. They will bond well with all members of the family and strangers as well, a guard dog not so much. They should alert you to something that might be going on outside if they have concern. Their basic personality is a little softer than that of the Shih-Chon due to the Poodle; they will not like any harsh type of words or treatment. They are trainable however you will want to keep your training very direct. The Shih Tzu side of this mix could throw a little stubbornness your way. Keep your methods black and white so that they know what you expect of them. Always keep it positive with praise and some treats. Reward good behavior, if you catch them doing something wrong a firm NO will work. For the first time puppy owner we would suggest that you enroll in some puppy classes. This will give you a better working knowledge of training and it's good for the dog also. Their hair coat will be soft and wavy and will need combed out several times a week with a hard comb or pin brush. They will also need to go to the groomers about every 8 to 12 weeks. This mix is a nice addition to the family and will bring you many years of happiness. Just remember about the training, a well-trained dog is much more enjoyable than one who is not.
