There are five in this litter, two males and three females. Mom is a golden colored Goldendoodle, and she weighs 40#. Dad is a red Moyen Poodle, and he weighs 42#. These pups are F2 or second generation.
The Goldendoodle originated here in the states in the late '90s, the purpose was to get the personality of the Golden, which can't be beat, but with a little less of the shedding. They are highly intelligent, friendly and are very family oriented. They will always be ready for a gentle game of tug and do love to play. Most Doodles tend to retain the retrieving instinct of the Golden. Due to their friendliness, even to strangers, they don't make the best guard dog, they love everyone. They are loyal to their family and want nothing more than to be with you. They are eager to please and want to obey. They are unbelievable with children of all ages and with other pets as well. They are social dogs and want to be around people. They do require a moderate amount of exercise, being of smaller size running around the house will do but they will still love to go out in the yard with you or even on short walks. Due to their high intelligence and their desire to please, training should not be difficult. Let them know what it is that you want of them and they will do it. Make sure that they understand what it is that you are telling them. Always use positive praise and some treats to solidify your point. Their coat is very wavy and will require some care. Use a hard comb or pin brush to comb out several times a week and they will stay mat free. A trip to the groomers will help to keep them neat and tidy, probably about every 8 weeks where your groomer will wash, clip, trim their nails and pluck the hair out of their ears. Poodles are known for excessive hair in their ears and if not plucked on a regular basis you will end up with ear infections. This is an excellent choice for the first time buyer and will make a wonderful addition to the family.
