About This Breed:

This is a mix between a Pekingese and a Shih Tzu. This is designer mix that shows the happy and playful side of the Shih Tzu but also a lovey side that comes from the Pekingese. This litter is considered a no shed dog but only moderate for allergy cases. They are happy and friendly with an easy going personality, they bond well with the family but may pick a favorite. Don’t be surprised to see kisses abound from these guys. They may be cautious of strangers. They make an excellent companion and napping buddy. They are social, clever and entertaining. They are intelligent and may have a stubborn side to them, you can blame the Shih Tzu for that. Their activity needs are easily met running the house and back yard. They will enjoy short walks around the block. Their sturdy body and socialness lends well with children of all ages and other household pets. Make sure that young children know how to handle a small and young dog. They are trainable however you will want to keep your training very direct. The Shih Tzu side of this mix could throw a little attitude your way. Keep your methods black and white so that they know what you expect of them. You will need to be consistent and persistent. Always keep it positive with praise and some treats. Reward good behavior, if you catch them doing something wrong a firm NO will work. For the first time puppy owner we would suggest that you enroll in some puppy classes. This will give you a better working knowledge of training and it’s good for the dog also. Their hair coat will be straight, long and silky and will need combed out several times a week with a hard comb or pin brush. They will also need to go to the groomers about every 8 to 12 weeks. Just remember about the training, a well-trained dog is much more enjoyable than one who is not. Their happy and upbeat personality will keep you smiling all day.
