About This Breed:
A Puggle is a cross between a Beagle and a Pug. The very first Puggle is said to come from an oops litter. The first planned litter was back in the “90s and since has become one of the success stories of the designer dogs. Its popularity is grand. A Puggle isn’t like its Beagle mom, they don’t have the same kind of howl and they won’t run endlessly through the woods looking for rabbits. They also don’t run the health concerns of the Pug with the breathing and eye issues. They are a small, sturdy, healthy companion dog. Puggles generally come in some variation of fawn but can also be black. They are smart, loving, robust pups. They are an excellent family pet. They have a sweet nature, are loyal, and affectionate. They are energetic dogs that love to play games with their family. They will love a nice walk or romp in the back yard. They will need some outside time as well as playing in the house. They are very adapt too many living situations from an apartment to a full size house. They are excellent with children of all ages and will do well with other pets. When excited a Puggle can be a barker so don’t encourage that behavior. Although they don’t howl like a Beagle does, they do have a diluted howl, or can. They are intelligent and have a social nature so use this when it comes to training. A Beagle is known for having and obstinate side to them so you will need some patience. Be consistent and take your time with them. Use praise, since they want to please you, and also some treats. A Puggle is a great dog for the first time owner but if you see yourself having training issues than we would suggest that you enroll in some puppy classes. This will help both you and the dog. A Puggle will shed so you will want to use a curry brush on them several times a week to remove any dead hairs. Feeding a natural diet will help with the quality of their skin and coat and this will help to control shedding. A Puggle is an awesome family pet that will keep you entertained for hours.
