About This Breed:

A Peke-A-Poo is a mix between a Pekingese and a Toy Poodle. They will be a no shed pup; they are not considered hypo-allergenic but are considered very good for most allergy sufferers. They are a scale three on our allergy scale. They are a happy little pup with an upbeat and playful personality. They are social, a little sensitive and loyal. They will be intelligent with a good sense of humor which will make play time fun. They are good with children and other pets. They will be very loving with their family. They have a sturdy little body and can handle most play activities; however the children need to be taught how to handle a smaller dog. Most of their exercise needs will be met running the house but will still love some sunshine and short walks. Walk time is a fun time to meet the neighbors, the four legged kind.  Training should be consistent but gentle, always keep it positive with praise and a few treats. Like us, do it over and over again, they will catch on. They will take offense to a harsh approach and you may encounter some obstinance, you can thank the Pekingese for that. Their coat is very soft and curly but not as curly as a pure Poodle, they will require combing out several times a week to keep the mats out. Use a pin brush and a hard comb to accomplish this, a good job for the kids to help with the chores. In between grooming’s you can clip around their face and back end with a good pair of scissors. You will need to go to the groomers about every 8 weeks, she will wash and clip them as well as trimming their nails and will pluck the hair out of their ears. This is a fun pup that will fit in nicely for your first or second dog and will be good for the first time owner.
