About This Breed:

A Beaglier is a cross between a Beagle and a Cavalier King Charles. Being a Spaniel and Hound mix you may find them tracking something in the back yard, they will not have the same howl as a Beagle. They are a sturdy, healthy companion dog, that will absolutely love going outside in any weather to play. Again, because of the parents, you will find them in a rainbow of colors and patterns. They are smart, loving, robust pups. They are an excellent family pet. They have a sweet nature, are loyal, and affectionate. They are energetic dogs that love to play games with their family. They will love a nice walk or romp in the back yard. They will need some outside time as well as playing in the house. House play time is good but they will need access to some grass.  They are excellent with children of all ages and will do well with other pets. When excited and wound up they can bark so don’t encourage that behavior. Although they don’t howl like a Beagle does, they do have a diluted howl, it’s really cute. They are intelligent and have a social nature so use this when it comes to training. The Cavalier side is very passive. The Beagle is known for having and obstinate side to them so you will need some patience. Be consistent and take your time with them. Use praise, since they want to please you, and also some treats. They are great dog for the first time owner but if you see yourself having training issues than we would suggest that you enroll in some puppy classes, don’t wait too long as you may begin to develop some bad behaviors. This will help both you and the dog. They will shed so you will want to use a curry brush on them several times a week to remove any dead hairs. Feeding a natural diet will help with the quality of their skin and coat and this will help to control shedding.  This is an awesome family pet that will keep you entertained and laughing for hours.
